Florida fifth grader arrested, charged with threatening a mass capturing, police say

A fifth grade student in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to carry out a mass capturing, authorities mentioned.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace stated it had realized earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a pupil at an elementary school.

It stated its native college risk enforcement group was instantly notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written menace to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy can be seen being led into a police car.

“This pupil’s conduct is sickening, especially after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a press release, noting that the menace came simply days after the deadly college taking pictures at Robb Elementary Faculty left 19 students and two teachers useless.

“Proper now is just not the time to behave like just a little delinquent. It’s not funny,” he said. “This youngster made a pretend menace, and now he’s experiencing real penalties.”

Marceno stated his staff “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to analyze the incident.

The comment came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the May 24 faculty taking pictures after it got here to light that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of immediately shifting in on the gunman.
