A California district lawyer declined to file fees Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police experiences and movies of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no expenses be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Office concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against one other passenger on an airplane whereas waiting on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe said in an announcement.

"Our decision is that we will not file any charges against Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the sufferer leading up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, in addition to the requests of both the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no fees be filed in this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video did not show what occurred earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement companies "for their careful, diligent, and professional work."
