Apple has discontinued the iPod, 20 years after it was launched.

The US tech giant stated its iconic music participant has been changed by other devices, making the iPod redundant.

Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide advertising, mentioned: "Today, the spirit of iPod lives on.

"We have built-in an incredible music experience across all of our products, from the iPhone to the Apple Watch to HomePod mini, and across Mac, iPad, and Apple TV.

"And Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound quality with support for spatial audio - there is not any better strategy to enjoy, uncover, and experience music."

In October 2001, Steve Jobs debuted the original iPod and it was the primary MP3 participant that might maintain 1,000 songs and had a 10-hour battery life.

"With iPod, Apple has invented an entire new category of digital music player that lets you put your entire music collection in your pocket and hearken to it wherever you go," he mentioned on the time.

"With iPod, listening to music won't ever be the same once more."
