LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC/Gray News) - An incident that involved gamers from a university’s lacrosse team and deputies in Georgia remains under investigation.

WTOC stories Delaware State College President Tony Allen launched a statement on Monday responding to the incident that reportedly happened on April 20 in Liberty County.

Allen wrote Georgia legislation enforcement stopped a bus for a minor site visitors violation with the Delaware State Lacrosse team on board. Deputies searched the belongings of the student-athletes, including suitcases with drug-sniffing canines.

“100% you can’t be in that left lane in any respect,” said a Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The crew was returning house from a game in Florida and touring by a contracted bus, according to Allen.

Liberty County Sheriff William Bowman held a news conference concerning the incident but took no questions. He claimed that no personal gadgets on the bus have been searched.

Body digital camera video obtained by WTOC, nevertheless, clearly showed the deputies going by means of the scholars’ luggage and even medication.

The college president wrote in his assertion that videos taken by gamers showed law enforcement making an attempt to intimidate them into confessing to possession of medication and/or drug paraphernalia.

A deputy responded: “Nicely, he stopped y’all, he didn’t stop y’all for a site visitors violation...he stopped the driving force for a traffic violation.”

Nothing illegal was discovered within the search, and Allen informed the public that he has contacted Delaware’s governor, the Black Caucus and other state officers.

Allen wrote that everybody was incensed over the incident.

Allen additionally added the next:

“We do not intend to let this or some other incident prefer it pass idly by. We're prepared to go wherever the evidence leads us. We've got video. We now have allies. Perhaps more considerably, we've the courage of our convictions.”

Allen concluded his assertion by writing, “We'll never be bullied into believing anything other than what we're: People, learners, lecturers, builders—helpful and honorable folks able to soar.”
