A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police stories and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Office concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane while ready on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a press release.

"Our determination is that we will not file any costs in opposition to Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the sufferer leading as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no prices be filed in this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file fees by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement companies "for their cautious, diligent, and professional work."
