A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police stories and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Workplace concluded its assessment of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a press release.

"Our resolution is that we'll not file any prices in opposition to Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the sufferer leading as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, in addition to the requests of each the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no expenses be filed on this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the person was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file expenses by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement businesses "for their careful, diligent, and professional work."
