Talking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I do not plan on popping out for the anthem going forward until I really feel better concerning the course of our nation."

I wish that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your country, you let it's recognized by means of protest. The house of the courageous should encourage this."
