BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to participate in a mass faculty shooting that could have included a bombing at Berkeley High Faculty, police say.
The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department mentioned in a press release. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no faculty that day.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing destructive device supplies and threatening to commit against the law which is able to result in demise or nice bodily damage.
Police mentioned they obtained a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a capturing that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence.
Police did not say if the teenager was a student at Berkeley Excessive School.
Upon executing the search warrant, police stated they found parts to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and electronic gadgets that could possibly be used to create extra weapons.
At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teen's arrest.

"School safety remains a high precedence for the division," police mentioned in a statement.
Details on whom the teen was making an attempt to recruit weren't disclosed. Police said this case remains below investigation.
Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens advised the college's group that the district was in shut contact with police during this investigation.
After police confiscated the teen's weapon components, the district relied on police expertise to assess any potential ongoing danger to its faculties. The district communicated with police on the coed's whereabouts.
"As added precautions throughout this era, we alerted our administrative and security employees about this investigation and, as is our standard practice, maintained shut contact with our BPD School Resource Officer on the Berkeley High College campus," Stephens wrote. "All through the investigation period, we have been assured that this individual did not pose an instantaneous threat to the Berkeley High Faculty community."
The district is conducting their very own investigation on this matter.
The district could pursue disciplinary action in opposition to the scholar.
